What We DidFor the "take action" component of TGPLAN, my group and I volunteered at Helping Hand Home for Children (HHH) by washing the vans that transport the kids from place to place, and cleaning out the staff's toy storage area. Because we are legally not old enough to volunteer, we did "behind the scenes" work to help the staff of HHH. This shows that no matter how old you are, you can help!
How This HelpsOur servece work benefited Helping Hand Home because we helped make the environment cleaner for the children living at HHH. By washing the five vans, we helped make a clean and safe place for the kids to travel in, and by cleaning out the toy closet, we helped the staff by creating a clear floor, and organized shelfs. This was extremely helpful because when the kids first come to the home, they are given a toy, which is something they might have never had. By organizing the closet, the staff is able to see all of the toys and pick the perfect one out for the child.
